RE:  (press release) Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG)

The Ashland Police Department is eligible for $13,054.00 under the Recovery Act: Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) funding. The Ashland Police Department intends to use this funding to supplement its Community Policing efforts. Some of the Ashland Police Department Community Policing programs/activities include, police mountain bike patrols in local parks, teaching internet safety classes to adults and children, Citizens Police Academy, Neighborhood Officer Program and professional development and specialized training for police officers. Due to state budget cuts last October, the Ashland Police Department lost almost $10,000 from its original Community Policing Grant.

The Ashland Police Department must notify the community of the grant submission and their intent to use the funds. Any comments or concerns should be directed to Lieutenant David Beaudoin be email at dbeaudoin@ashlandpd.org or by telephone at 508-881-1212 x23
