Motor Unit

Training

The Ashland Police Motor Unit consists of officers trained in police motorcycle operations.
All officers are required to complete a 5-day Police Motorcycle Training course held by the Municipal Police Training Committee which certifies them in Police Motorcycle Operations.

Officers assigned to the Motor Unit go through annual training and serve on the METROLEC Motor Unit, which is a regional team that is deployed for numerous police function operations including motor vehicle escorts, public relation functions, and mutual aid to other towns.

The Ashland Police Department currently has two Harley Davidson Motorcycles, MC1 and MC2. Both motorcycles and its officers continue to provide a valuable resource to the Ashland community.
